How to repair a grounding device
In the grounding network, the welding seams connecting its individual sections to each other are most often damaged. The integrity of the welds is checked by hammer blows on the welded joints. The defective seam is cut out with a chisel and rewelded by arc, autogenous or thermite welding.
Before starting the repair of the grounding network, check the resistance of the grounding electrode to splashing. If it is above the norm (4 or 10 ohms), then measures are taken to reduce it. To do this, it is necessary to increase the number of grounding electrodes or to place successively around the electrode in a radius of 250 — 300 mm layers of salt on the ground with a thickness of 10-15 mm. Each layer to be applied is sprinkled with water. In this way, the ground is worked around the top of the grounding electrode. Processing of the ground around the grounding electrodes should be done every 3-4 years.
