Installation of electrical distribution cabinets
The central component of home, office, industrial wiring is the distribution cabinet. Inside its box there is electrical equipment with a voltage of up to 1000 V. The main purpose of such cabinets is to distribute the voltage on the electrical circuits. Also, the equipment is used for infrequent switching on / off of lines from group circuits, protection of wiring in case of overload, short circuits.
Determine the optimal place to install the control cabinet
Install wiring closets outside and inside buildings. For outdoor placement you will need a SCHR with a high protection case. These are wall-mounted shields IP65, IP66, IP67. Such equipment is resistant to dust and moisture. Still, experts recommend placing it under a shed or in a booth to protect it from direct exposure to precipitation.
Devices with enclosure classes IP20 — IP41 are suitable for indoor installation. They are intended for areas with normal temperature conditions, moderate humidity.It is best to place the SCR at the entrance, in the corridor next to the exit.
Indoor and outdoor mounting have their advantages. External shields are used so as not to disturb the interior. They allow you to control the tension of the object without entering the room. In case of an emergency, the building will be easier to power — access to a room with a shield can be blocked.
Internal installation allows you to protect the equipment from the external environment, the actions of vandals. The shield is always at hand for easy wiring management. For installation in buildings, you do not need to look for equipment with a reinforced case. In addition, such equipment costs less.
The same rules apply for indoor and outdoor installation. So the equipment is not located: in fire-hazardous rooms:
- boiler rooms, production workshops;
- near tanks with flammable substances;
- in areas with extreme temperatures or with unstable temperature conditions;
- to pipelines; in poorly ventilated rooms.
Electrical distribution cabinets should be quickly accessible — this simplifies maintenance. The area also needs good lighting — for the captain's convenience.
Cabinets can be placed on the floor (stand), hung on the wall. The second installation option is more practical. The hinged mounting cabinet saves useful space.
Filling wall cabinets for automation
It is convenient to purchase a ready-made distribution cabinet with a set of installed electrical devices. Less often, only the case is purchased — the components for it are selected individually, taking into account the features of the wiring and the needs of the user.
The standard cabinet automation kit includes:
- Insertion breaker (automatic machine). Protects against short circuit, allows you to turn off the entire unit.
- Residual current device (RCD). It can be used in several cases. Separate RCDs are installed on lines with increased consumption. The task of the device is to prevent fire, protect the user from electric shock.
- Counter. Controls power consumption.
- Linear machines. Needed to quickly break the chain. The devices are placed on separate lines for overload and short-circuit protection. The use of automatic devices for controlling powerful devices — boilers, air conditioners, pumps — is permitted.
- Automatic. It is used as an alternative to RCD circuit breakers.
Installation of automation is carried out using a mounting element — DIN rail. Connecting wires and busbars provide communication and interaction between switches and other components.
