Knife and wrench repair

Switches and switches are simple electrical devices, so they are fairly easy to operate and repair.

Most often, switches and switches burn contact knives and sponges. If the contact surface is slightly burnt, the contact knives and switch jaws can be cleaned with a file and glass paper. The use of sandpaper is not recommended, as sanding dust covers the contact surface and thus increases the transient contact resistance.

Knife and wrench repairIn case of severe burns, contact blades and sponges should be replaced. Earlier in the literature it was recommended to make knives and sponges yourself, the circuit breaker is made of electrolytic strip copper, and the spring contacts are made of phosphor bronze and put them in place of the burnt ones. Now it's easier to replace a broken switch with a new one than to make individual parts for the switch yourself.

If the breaker blades do not fit snugly into the contact lips, then the sponges must be bent so that they fit snugly over any surface.

Knife and wrench repairWith a strong development of the pivot points of the knives, you can drill in large holes and insert bushings with holes in the diameter of the roller.

In order not to distort the breaker blades, it is necessary to tighten the bolts that fasten them to the crossbar. The contact springs must provide simultaneous and sharp immediate opening of the knives.

After repair, it is necessary to check the insulation of live parts and clean and paint the switch parts.
