Contact repair. How to troubleshoot retail issues
When heating certain parts of the plug or socket, make sure that several operations aimed at eliminating such dangerous problems. The sequence of actions is as follows. First remove the plug from the outlet by turning off the power supply to it. Then unscrew the plugs, turning off the fuses with mechanical switches if you have one in your house.
After these steps, you need to check: is there really electricity in the apartment, the electricity network is not supplied. This can be done simply by plugging into the electrical network any electrical appliance or turning on a light bulb, lamp, sconce. Screwdriver unscrew the central screw and remove the socket cover. In this case, it is desirable to put your palm under the outlet, so that the parts that fall out of the outlet with similar symptoms of the disease did not roll in different directions on the floor, and you do not waste valuable time looking for them.
1.If the screw head and adjacent parts of the terminal darken, the cause is usually poor contact between the parts. In this case, wrap all the way until it stops. If this fails, it deviates and check the condition of the part of the wire that the screw tightens. Stranded copper wire turns gray from overheating, becomes brittle. The end of the aluminum wire in this case loses its elasticity. In such a situation, you have to bite off the spoiled vein. If the thread of the terminal is damaged, then you need to select the nut to the screw. Nut lock with narrow nose pliers and then screw the screw through the terminal hole. There will be washers and wire under the screw head.
2. In case of a defective terminal, you can occupy it in a working or broken outlet. Replacing the terminal is quite a difficult task, therefore, if there is no suitable outlet, you should consider a complete replacement of the outlet. If the contact is a defective terminal — one of the hidden wiring assemblies, then it is removed, the screw of the clamp is several turned inside out to loosen the grip of the remote feet.
Then unscrew the terminal screw. In a socket for exposed wiring when replacing the terminals remove the screws. In any case, you need to have a lack of sockets to press the screw "back". Instead of the old thread, cut new threads with a tap or steel screw. Since the end metal is soft, then steel is a suitable material for this action. Of course, for a new theme you need to get a new screw.
3. Darkening of the terminal around the threaded end of the screw indicates a weak terminal contact or a missing plate. In this case, the screw must be tightened to the end.A dropped or replacement plate is replaced with a screwdriver with a blade width no greater than the width of the plate. The blade is placed in place of the plate, then the spring is compressed and the plate is inserted into the gap formed. If the plate is lost, you need to cut a new plate from tin. The width of the plate is determined by a guide clamp, length by a recess in the base. The bending of the plate determines the diameter of the spring. Dish from neighboring sockets. This is a tricky part and factories do it differently.
4. Another way to return the plate to its original place. With an awl or screwdriver, remove the spring, insert it into the plate with the bend to the spring and wind the spring. With tweezers or pliers with a narrow nose, after the manipulations, they are tested for strength.
5. Darkening of the terminal may mean that the contact between the parts is weakened, in close proximity to the terminal, or the plate and spring have fallen out. Methods of restoring plates and springs are described in the first and second options for possible malfunctions. Overheating of the terminal affects the base of the contact. A porcelain base is pulled by soot and the plastic breaks down from prolonged heating, which can damage the socket housing. In this case, it is better to replace it with a plastic case or the entire socket.
6. There is no current in the outlet. The cause is most likely loss from the plate socket and the spring from the socket. The procedure is as follows. First check the presence of current in other outlets. If no current is found in the adjacent outputs, then the previously described repair is performed. If you do not have such a new plate, without a spring, then the old ones are sent to the base of the socket with a screwdriver or with an awl. This creates a temporary terminal. When using it, monitor its heating and avoid overheating. So it is not worth using it for no more than one to two hours.
