We save on electricity bills
Since electricity is consumed in residential buildings constantly and around the clock, paying for it constitutes a significant share of all costs spent on housing maintenance. Let's talk about the options that exist (of course, official and legal, not related to electricity theft) and are available to most users.
The first direction is the use of energy-saving technologies. A significant portion of electricity in homes is used for lighting. The current trend to replace low-efficiency incandescent lamps with energy-saving fluorescent lamps is fully justified, although such lamps are more expensive than incandescent lamps. Of course, the power cable is designed so that you can turn on all lighting devices with incandescent lamps and nothing terrible will happen, only you will have to pay for such a light about five times more than with energy-saving ones. But they are not the pinnacle of perfection either. If you use LED illuminators to organize lighting, then the savings will be even greater, their efficiency is close to 100%, and their durability is simply amazing — more than 10,000 hours MTBF. In practice, this period can be much longer, the author's lighting LED works continuously for more than 10 years (lights the bell button).
Modern household appliances are in the same line of energy saving. Pay attention when you buy a refrigerator or a washing machine, what is their energy saving class. And it is better to buy a slightly more expensive "A" class sample than a low-end device. This is especially true for refrigerators that are permanently connected to the network.
The second direction is the use of different tariffs (such a service is already quite widespread) for payment depending on the time of day when electricity is consumed. Such accounting can be provided by mercury electricity meters, which allow accounting for 4 tariffs in eight time zones of the day for 8 types of days. Given the current state of affairs, such opportunities may seem superfluous, but life does not stand still, and most likely they will be in demand in the near future.
The use of different tariffs allows to plan the use of powerful household appliances in such a way that the main energy consumption takes place during the period of the lowest tariff (usually at night). Fortunately, modern washing machines and dishwashers are equipped with suitable timers.
