Running out of oil—the end of the world?

Running out of oil - the end of the world? At the dawn of the 21st century, humanity began to realize and feel the impending decline in oil production. This is due to the gradual depletion of black gold deposits. So, if in the USSR a barrel of oil cost about 5 dollars, then in the summer of 2008 the Americans were ready to pay up to 140 dollars for a barrel of oil. So the day will inevitably come when the last barrel of oil will be produced. Today's politicians do not want to listen to the speculations of scientists and the masses, realizing how hard the final depletion of the planet's energy resources can affect humanity. Heavy and food industry, the production of plastics, clothing - all this will sink into oblivion.

Look around you: everything—from bags to car seats, phones to desktop computers—is more or less plastic, also made from petroleum. Even shoes — and this is 50 percent (sole) of a derivative of black gold. Yes, undoubtedly we invented and established the production of biofuels, the so-called bioethanol, and we use fuel-saving devices. But it's just fuel and nothing more. You can't make plastic or rubber out of it. In addition, the engine requires a mixture of bioethanol with petroleum derivatives - gasoline or diesel fuel.

Solar energy is a good, one might say, alternative. But solar energy is just heat and a way to save electricity. Solar energy is not a source of components for plastic and rubber. Moreover, if we consider that plastic is also necessary for the production of a solar battery, then we can accept a sad picture of the life of future generations of people. You offer rubber, but it is unlikely that rubber production will be able to cover all of humanity's rubber needs.

Once the oil runs out, there will be a great famine. The planet cannot feed billions of people. Society will change beyond recognition, today's values of people will change radically. What will happen next is a lot of fiction writers and dreamers. Our goal is to recognize the challenges ahead and make every effort to prevent the big crash.
