First start of the electric motor

The first test start of the engine is carried out after the completion of all its tests and in case of positive results.

The engine is started by the regulators in the presence of a representative of the electrical installation organization. At the same time, several electric motors included in one electrical installation.

Before starting, the engine must be prepared and started carefully.

It is necessary to check the completeness of the engine, the condition of the transmission from the engine to the mechanism, the presence of its housing and the housing of the engine fan, the presence of grease in the bearings, grounding device… All types of motor protection should be tested and set to minimum settings.

Before test starting the engine, you should rotate it and check for free movement.

In case of damage to the engine control circuit when it shuts down, it is necessary to provide emergency shutdown of the nearest switches or automatic devices.

In the case of a high-powered engine or an extended mechanism, it is necessary to place those who monitor the operation of the engine and mechanism.

First, the engine starts in 1-2 seconds. This checks the direction of rotation, the operation of the mechanical part and the behavior of the mechanism.

On a normal first start, the engine starts before accelerating to full speed. At the same time, the load current is monitored by the ammeter and by the behavior of the motor, the state of protection, the operation of the brushes, if any, it is determined by the sound whether the rotating parts are touched by the stationary ones, whether there is vibration or heating of the bearings.

If any malfunctions are detected, the engine shuts down immediately, without warning.

If the results of the test runs are satisfactory, the engine is switched on for a longer run time. At the same time, they check the heating of bearings, windings, steel of the magnetic circuit.

During test runs of motor generators, it is necessary to open the circuit of the excitation windings of the generator.
