Connecting wires in junction boxes

Connecting wires in junction boxesMost people who are somehow related to technology, wires and soldering will say that the most unreliable and difficult places are cable connections. This is especially well known to those who organize outdoor or decorative lighting, carry out electrical work, etc. The connection of flat wires is carried out exclusively in metal or plastic distribution boxes. In addition, for the wiring done in a hidden way, steel boxes with an inner lining of insulating material are used. And for open or hidden wiring (cross section up to 4 mm2) — plastic distribution boxes.

In addition, laying the cable in the ground requires special preparatory measures, so in order to introduce the wires into the box, it is necessary to cut the dividing base of the flat wire along the length of 100 mm. Wires are inserted through a special hole or in remote thin sections of the walls of the box (pre-pressing). Connecting wires in junction boxesIt should be noted that the wiring of wires in boxes without brackets is carried out by soldering, crimping or welding. One of the most promising ways to connect wires is crimping. With its help, not only mechanically strong, but also electrically reliable contact is obtained. In this case, the junction of the wires is closed in a special metal sleeve and compressed with crimping pliers.

If it is necessary to connect the wires in a junction (distribution) box with a bolt clamp, then a series of sequential actions must be performed. First of all, it is necessary to cut a dividing base 100 mm long at the ends of the wire. Through special holes, the wire is inserted into the box, it is recommended to leave a power supply with wires of at least 50 mm. To connect, you need a core with a length equal to the diameter of the contact screw. The insulation is removed from the end of the core, long enough to make a ring around the contact screw (it is recommended to remove 2-4 mm more). After that, the prepared core is bent with connecting pliers under the contact screw, the ring from the core is tightly pressed to the plate with the help of the screw. If the junction box does not contain clamps, then the stripped and prepared ends of the core are inserted into the box, twisted tightly, covered with rosin and soldered. The place of soldering is insulated with several layers of electrical tape and a special plastic cap is placed, which will protect the junction from moisture.
